• Spring 2020 the first $2,000 scholarship was awarded.
• Second goal: $50,000: REACHED 4/5/21!!! (At this level, the fund has converted to an endowed fund.)

• Current FMV is $170,653 ($163,485 represents the endowed portion and the remaining $7,168 is available for future scholarships until the endowment gradually matures in 4 years.)

2019 Donors: First year Founding Donors
After the great Class of 1961 opened the fund in 2019 at The Alaska Community Foundation (ACF) and broadened the name of the fund to the "Alumni" Fund, many donors from other great classes joined together and became Founding Donors. These donors had the vision of the potential of the Lathrop High School Alumni Scholarship Fund at ACF. Their willingness in the first year to commit, support and believe in the Scholarship Fund, made the dream possible to provide an avenue for other LHS alumni and friends to also leave a legacy to Lathrop High School and future students. Where It Started: The Great Class of 1961 Patriot Football Pool
In 2016 at the 55th reunion of the great Class of 1961, several classmates tossed around the idea of starting a scholarship for LHS graduates. They wanted to help students who had initially been underachievers or who had overcome challenges, and wanted to pursue more education at college or a technical school. Being a successful business person, Claudia Harris, an avid NE Patriots fan and a Class of '61 graduate, decided to start a Patriot football pool, and the winner (CLAUDIA) would donate the winnings to the future scholarship fund. This account quickly accumulated $6,000 and became the seed money for the scholarship fund that was later opened at The Alaska Community Foundation in 2019. Go Patriots Malamutes!
