Total: $249,592 — $243,653 endowed (permanent) + $5,939 available for future scholarships.
- July 2019: Fund opened at The Alaska Community Foundation (ACF) with $6,000.
- First goal, $15,000: reached August 16, 2019!
- Spring 2020: First $2,000 scholarship awarded.
- Second goal, $50,000: reached March 30, 2021! The fund became an endowed fund. Thank you, Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, for putting the fund over the $50,000 level!
- Spring 2021: A second $2,000 scholarship awarded.
- Spring 2022: Two scholarships awarded.
- Another goal: reached the $100,000 level!
- Fall 2023: One $2,000 scholarship awarded.
- 2024: Two scholarships awarded, $2,000 and $2,500.
- 2025: Two $3,000 scholarships awarded.
- Current goal: Keep growing the endowment to fund more scholarships.

After the great Class of 1961 opened the fund in 2019 at The Alaska Community Foundation (ACF) and broadened its name to the “Alumni” Fund, donors from many other great classes joined together and became Founding Donors. They saw the potential of the Lathrop High School Alumni Scholarship Fund at ACF. Their willingness in the first year to commit, support and believe in the fund made it possible for other LHS alumni and friends to also leave a legacy to Lathrop High School and future students. Where It Started: The Great Class of 1961 Patriot Football Pool
In 2016, at the 55th reunion of the great Class of 1961, several classmates tossed around the idea of starting a scholarship for LHS graduates. They wanted to help students who had initially been underachievers or had overcome challenges, and who wanted to pursue more education at a college or technical school.
Claudia Harris, a successful businessperson, avid New England Patriots fan and Class of '61 graduate, started a Patriots football pool. The winner (Claudia!) would donate the winnings to the future scholarship fund. The pool quickly reached $6,000, which became the seed money for the fund opened at The Alaska Community Foundation in 2019. Go Patriots Malamutes!
